Have you ever seen a painting and wondered about the artist? Who they were, where they grew up, what influenced them? Wikipedia is often first place you would go to when looking for biographical information. However, as of May 2022, just 19.25% of biographies on English Wikipedia are about women. This means that you might not be able to easily access information about a female artist you are interested in. We are looking for volunteers to help change that! This is an exciting time for the National Galleries of Scotland, as we are currently undergoing a major redevelopment to make Gallery spaces more accessible, and better showcase the incredible collection of Scottish art. Part of that project involves ensuring that there is information about Scottish artists available online that can be easily accessed by those looking to learn more.
